THE EXIT STARTS BEFORE THE PICKUP. 🏒 In this SFU Red Leafs skill session, our defensemen work on turning a puck retrieval into speed up ice. Get underneath the puck. Shoulder-check early to read your options. Angle your route to collect it on the forehand, then surround the puck with your feet moving so the first touch carries you into the exit. Coaching point: Don’t arrive at the puck and decide what to do next. Read first, take a purposeful route, and use the pickup to accelerate.
