Tennis first, because TENNIS. But also PADEL, because it’s super social and super fun. Had such an incredible padel lesson from luismicolmenero at Fairgrounds Padel Toronto visitfairgrounds , and honestly, this was one of the best padel lessons ever.
So many small adjustments completely changed the way I was hitting the ball:
Less swing. More control.
Contact out in front.
Start my volleys a little higher.
Get LOW when playing off the glass and follow the ball with the racket before sending it forward.
And maybe my biggest takeaway: harder isn’t always better.
Hit a hard ball into the court and chances are it’s coming back just as hard. Sometimes taking a little pace off gives you more time, more control and a much better opportunity to build the point.
We also worked on creating more force on my backhand volley and learning how to direct the ball into different areas of the court instead of simply hitting it back.
