Ski racing has lost one of its great innovators and one of its kindest people.
Known as the “wizard of boots,” Hubert Immler helped shape the race boots worn by generations of champions. But those fortunate enough to know him will remember something even more meaningful: his warmth, his friendship and the remarkable way he made everyone feel important.
Hubert Immler died Sept. 15 after a battle with cancer. He was 64.
