Butterfly benefactors gathered Thursday afternoon in southern Oregon’s Blue Heron Park to watch young western monarchs fitted with micro-transmitters fly away. Supporters of Southern Oregon Monarch Advocates and others sponsored the $200 electronic tagging cost to provide scientists with information to guide conservation work to save butterflies as their populations decline.
