This quarter the Theatre Department partnered with #NUSoC's Center for Audiology, Speech, Language, and Learning again to provide voice screenings for Musical Theatre certificate students. The partnership was piloted last Spring. During the screenings the #NUSoC students had their hearing tested, their breath power/flow tested, and a laryngeal exam. At the end of the screening, students received a full report from the test. The partnership creates a team of professionals to support students' vocal health and well-being. It provides baseline data for students so that if they, or their voice teachers, start to notice any changes, the students have their initial screening results to reference and a connection with individuals in the medical profession who can provide medical care.
