Drilling through 1/2” steel with a hand drill doesn’t have to be a fight. Here’s a trick I’ve used when I need a little more controlled pressure but don’t have a drill press available. Position a speed clamp so it can apply steady pressure behind the drill, essentially using the clamp to help feed the drill bit through the steel. Instead of trying to put all your body weight behind the drill, the clamp gives you controlled mechanical pressure while you focus on keeping the bit straight and cutting. Pair that with the right bit, proper speed, and cutting fluid, and drilling thicker steel becomes a whole lot easier. Sometimes it’s not about having a bigger tool — it’s about finding a smarter way to use the tools you already have. Have you ever tried using a clamp like a makeshift drill press? #ToolTips #Metalworking #Construction drilling steel, drilling metal, speed clamp trick, drill press trick, metal drilling, 1/2 inch steel, contractor tips, tool hacks, construction tips, me...
