The first wave of pioneers arrived in the Salt Lake Valley 179 years ago today. They were brave even in the face of uncertainty, believing in God’s promise to give them a place to build His kingdom. They had faith in the same promise the Lord gave to Lehi and his family when God told them, “Inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments, ye shall prosper, and shall be led to a land of promise; yea, even a land which I have prepared for you” (1 Nephi 2:20). In our modern age, our “land of promise” can be anywhere—so long as we carry our faith in Jesus Christ with us on the journey. What pioneers in your life inspire you? #TheBookOfMormon #PioneerDay
