“Whatever the team needs, I’m happy to do it.” Laney Choboy said after the Rutgers match. The senior leader has embraced a different role for the unbeaten No. 1 Huskers this season. After competing at libero and playing the position in previous years at Nebraska, the senior has hifted exclusively to Defensive Specialist as Olivia Mauch has been the sole Libero this year. It is a sacrifice that has helped give Nebraska another dependable presence in the back row — and a weapon behind a loaded front-row rotation. Choboy made a team-high 15 digs in Nebraska’s sweep of Rutgers, helping the Huskers open Big Ten play 12-0 overall and 1-0 in conference action. “It’s a part of being on a team. You have to make sacrifices. I’m really proud of her. She makes such an impact when she’s in there. More than any DS I have ever seen.” Coach Dani Busboom Kelly on her senior leader.
