When Amy Cashman looks back on her time with Georgetown’s Prisons and Justice Initiative, she sees a path that began while she was incarcerated and continued after she returned home. Through the Prison Scholars Program, Cashman took Georgetown courses while incarcerated. After returning home, she went on to complete the MORCA-Georgetown Paralegal Program, an experience she describes as life-changing. Today, Cashman works with an organization that supports people returning home from prison and jail. She has also helped others apply to the MORCA-Georgetown Paralegal Program, including two people who were accepted. “I came into the program trying to figure out what was next,” Cashman said. “The program gave me a real purpose.” Now, she is helping others find their own path forward.
