Fran Brown didn’t initially buy the label. He’s called Chris D’Appolonia a “champion-level” player, a label only given to players he views as Syracuse’s leaders. But a “freak?” No.
That is until he reasoned the claim. D’Appolonia, who leads SU with 17 tackles, is 6-foot-3, weighs 235 pounds and can sprint 21.67 miles per hour. His vertical jump is 37 inches, and he can broad jump 10 feet, 9 inches.
“He came in and bought into our culture,” Brown said. “He's a legit kid, a legit athlete and, as you say, a freak of nature.”
