There was a time in my life when I truly didn’t know if I was going to make it. At 18, I was struggling with drugs and alcohol, depression, homelessness, and thoughts of suicide. One night after a drug binge, I was in so much physical and emotional pain that I finally broke down and prayed to God for help. Nothing changed immediately. There was no miraculous moment that night. But shortly after, one of my closest friends came to me and said he wanted out of that lifestyle too. Looking back, I believe that was God answering my prayer. Sometimes the answer doesn’t come how—or when—we expect it.
