5 things you're doing wrong on the bank, and I've done every one of them. 1. Hammering the pegs in. Carp hear through a bone chain from the swim bladder to the ear, and a mallet on a bank stick goes through the ground into the water. Push them in by hand, and do the loud jobs before you pick the swim. 2. Watching your phone, not the water. A show lasts seconds and the fish don't repeat it for you. Phone in the pocket for the first hour, and mark every show against the far bank. 3. Markering up the swim on a short session. An hour of leading about tells every fish in range you've arrived. Look first: the satellite view, the colour change, the shows. One quiet cast to a spot you already believe in. 4. Overcomplicating the rig. The rig is almost never why you blanked. The spot is. One rig you can tie in the dark, a sharp hook, the right spot. 5. Staying put when the signs say move. Carp move, the swim doesn't. If they show twice somewhere else, one rod goes first and the rest follow....
