Here is how Coach Jared helps cue our clients in navigating this issue during a THRIVE small group training session at Behemoth Gym.
Step 1: Posture! Think big, strong chest and remember this cue: “Don’t just raise your elbows, reach your elbows forward to create your shelf.”
Step 2: Round then extend. Begin in a rounded upper back position, then actively extend it upwards. This engages your thoracic spine and all the surrounding musculature, priming and preparing your back muscles to hold a heavy load.
