5 things I’d recommend if you’re trying to break into the world of sports media: 1. Just Start Creating Don’t wait for that “perfect” camera, or job or opportunity. Start creating with whatever you have and learn by actually photographing or designing graphics for games, athletes, and events. 2. Build Your Portfolio and Social Media Your work is your resume. You didn’t create as much as possible to keep it on your laptop. Build a portfolio that shows people what you’re capable of. 3. Get Around ANY Sport Don’t be picky about what sport you’re covering. Every opportunity is a chance to gain experience, meet people, and add something new to your portfolio. 4. Learn More Than Just Photography Sports media is bigger than just photography. Learn graphic design, video, editing, social media, storytelling etc. The more you can offer, the more valuable you become. 5. Be Consistent & Be Patient Growth takes time.
