Orca & Humpback whales in Kenai Fjords National Park on July 12, 2025.
The behavior observed in the second slide is called bubble-net feeding, where humpback whales work together to blow bubbles, confusing and forcing their prey to come together into a tight circle. Once the fish are contained, the whales will swim upwards though the center of the circle, opening their mouths to catch as many fish as they can. They repeat this process many times as they move along in the ocean currents. We watched the whales surface around 4 times before they dove deep down into the fjord! 🐋
