The basics aren’t just what you learn before you get to the “real” riding. They’re what you fall back on when the real riding gets difficult. Archie Cox believes that taking the time to learn fundamentals correctly gives riders tools they can rely on for the rest of their lives. Position, transitions, aids, balance, pace, two-point, pole work, and learning how to organize a horse may not always feel like the most exciting parts of a lesson, but they’re what make the more advanced work possible. As the questions get harder, riders have to react faster. That speed comes from practicing the underlying skills enough that the correct response becomes familiar. #theplaidhorse #theplaidcast #archiecox #horsemanship #ridingbasics #ridinglessons #horsetraining #equestriantraining #hunterjumper #hunters #equitation #showjumping #horseshowing #horseandrider #equestrian #equestrianlife #horsecommunity #horsepeople #ourindustry #horsesofinstagram
