A chicken lived for 18 MONTHS without a head 🐔 His name was Mike the Headless Chicken. In 1945, a farmer in Colorado named Lloyd Olsen was butchering chickens when one of them simply… refused to die. The axe removed most of Mike’s head, but left part of his brain stem and one ear intact. Because the brain stem controls many of a chicken’s basic functions, Mike could still stand, walk around, balance, and even attempt to peck. Olsen decided to keep him alive, feeding him a mixture of milk and water with an eyedropper directly into his esophagus.
