Ryan Lasko, a 24-year-old Athletics prospect, suffered a devastating spinal cord injury on June 30 after colliding with teammate Devin Taylor while chasing a ball in the outfield. He fractured his C6 and C7 vertebrae and required emergency surgery. The road back has been long. After initially losing feeling in his lower body, Lasko began experiencing sensation in his legs and feet and regained more use of his arms during intensive rehabilitation. Now, more than two months later, Lasko has left the inpatient rehab facility and is continuing therapy as an outpatient.
