Am I the asshole here? It is genuinely surprising to me that people need to be told “pls do not listen to your phone without a headphone” in a public setting—especially one where people are obviously working. It was mind boggling to me that these two people just sat there for 30 minutes mindlessly scrolling their feeds like they were in their own homes without once thinking about everyone else in this cafe. And lest you think this is anomalous—last week at the doctors office same thing happened in the lobby. 20 or so ppl who are all a little nervous and stressed out already and one of them decided to watch her YT feed on full volume. I did not sign up for that and moreover, what if I decided “hey I’m going to listen to my audiobook on full volume now!” And the guy across from me was like “great I’m going to listen to my podcast!” The answer cannot be “first come first serve.” It needs to be “hey let’s be courteous and not do this shit.” Is this a generational thing? Am I just a hope...
