Veerabhadra Temple, Lepakshi — where one pillar doesn’t even touch the ground! 😳🇮🇳
Located in Andhra Pradesh’s Sri Sathya Sai district, the Veerabhadra Temple at Lepakshi was built during the Vijayanagara period in the 16th century.
The temple is famous for its incredible sculptures, fresco paintings and unique architecture. But the biggest attraction is the legendary Hanging Pillar — a massive stone pillar that appears to remain suspended above the floor. You can even pass a piece of paper or cloth underneath it.
There’s also a gigantic monolithic Nandi, carved from a single stone, along with a huge footprint associated with Sita in local tradition.
A fascinating combination of history, architecture and centuries-old legends.
