UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband has condemned the suffering in Gaza and the West Bank, while saying the UK Labour government stands against anti-Semitism and threats to Israel. Speaking at the annual conference of the governing Labour Party, Miliband said the suffering of Palestinians was “a stain on the conscience of the world” and told those moved by their plight: “We hear you. You were right.” He said the government would challenge what it described as ethnic cleansing by settlers and evidence of war crimes in Gaza, while taking action against Israeli settlements. Miliband said the UK would ban imports from illegal settlements and disrupt British financial, construction and services links to them. He also said the argument was with the actions of Israel’s government, not its people, adding that his grandmother had found shelter and sanctuary in Israel after World War II. #UK #Israel #Palestine #Gaza #WestBank #Miliband
