100 years of John Coltrane. One legendary Philadelphia legacy. 🎷🔔   Today marks the 100th birthday of the jazz icon who developed his craft in Philadelphia and called the city home during some of the most formative years of his life. Sheila Alexander Reid (dcactivist) spent some time with the discoverPHL social team at a few important sites tracing the jazz giant through his adopted hometown.   Philadelphia is honoring his legacy with live music, film screenings, conversations and more across the city. arsnovaworkshop’s COLTRANE 100 leads the celebration with a yearlong lineup of performances and programming at venues and neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia. Also, check out scribevideocenter’s North Philadelphia History Festival: The John Coltrane Edition for a multi-site celebration of Black and Puerto Rican cultural history this weekend.   #discoverPHL
