HOT TAKE: So many traditionally low rep, low weight studios are now offering strength classes and I love it. But when more and more studios start adapting a format, the modality can start to get a little diluted and sometimes used in ways that donโ€™t actually match what it is. The label gets adopted before the programming really supports it. Adding heavier dumbbells doesnโ€™t automatically make something strength training. Neither does slowing down a Pilates class, adding ankle weights, or throwing โ€œstrengthโ€ into the class name. Thereโ€™s a difference between a class that uses weights and a class thatโ€™s actually programmed around progressive overload, recovery, intentional exercise selection, and getting stronger over time. Hot take: if everything is strength training, nothing is strength training. ๐Ÿ‘€
