This #FacultyFriday, we’re celebrating two Indiana State researchers and their award-winning work! 🔬🧫 Hirak Samir Parikh, Ph.D. candidate in Earth and Environmental Systems, and his advisor, Dr. Jeffery R. Stone, were recently recognized in the British Phycological Society’s Hilda Canter-Lund Photography Award competition for their image, “Geometry of a Glass Cell.” Selected in the Micro category, their work highlights the intricate structure of a diatom through scanning electron microscopy. Stone originally captured the image, while Parikh edited and refined it for submission. For Parikh, the subject also connects directly to his research exploring diatom taxonomy, systematics and ecology to better understand aquatic environmental change. Congratulations to Hirak and Dr. Stone! We’re proud to see our Sycamores’ research recognized on an international stage! 💙🎉
