“What does it mean to carry life in a world on fire? My project, Natura, follows women across four continents who are navigating what it means to be a parent — or not — in a warming world.” —

“The science of heat and pregnancy is new. The reckoning isn’t. Through Natura I’m documenting the quiet, often unspoken ways women — in Iraq’s dying marshlands, rural America’s birthing rooms, Germany’s occupied forests and Palau’s heat-altered waters — are making decisions around pregnancy and parenthood, and the realities of raising families in places already being reshaped by climate change. Swipe through to read some of the stories of the women and families I’ve met through Natura. To mother, these women suggest, is not only to bear life, but to defend it.”
