🚀 Story Book Series 1124: It’s 2026… and we still remember Katherine Johnson. Born in 1918 in West Virginia, USA 🇺🇸, Katherine Johnson loved numbers from childhood. She counted everything she could — and that curiosity eventually helped humanity reach beyond Earth. She graduated from college at just 18 and later joined NACA, which became NASA. Her mathematics helped calculate spacecraft trajectories for America’s early human spaceflights. When astronaut John Glenn prepared to orbit Earth in 1962, he specifically asked Katherine to personally verify the new electronic computer’s calculations before he flew. 🚀 Her work also contributed to the Apollo program and humanity’s journey toward the Moon. 🌕 But her story is bigger than mathematics. She worked in an era when both racial and gender barriers limited opportunities for people like her — yet her ability, preparation and persistence made her work impossible to overlook.
