🔊 The Lexus LFA accelerating from 0 to 300 km/h is one of the greatest V10 sound experiences ever recorded. Its naturally aspirated 4.8-liter V10 produces 552 horsepower and revs all the way to a 9,000 rpm redline. Lexus engineered the engine with titanium internals, individual throttle bodies and an ultra-fast six-speed automated sequential gearbox to make the response feel almost instantaneous. The exhaust system was tuned specifically to create the LFA’s signature high-pitched scream, with equal-length manifolds and a titanium muffler shaping the sound. Lexus even designed the intake and exhaust notes to overlap at different engine speeds, turning the powertrain into something closer to an instrument than a normal road-car engine. The LFA could reach 202 mph, or roughly 325 km/h, making a run to 300 km/h well within its performance envelope.
