When I watch athletes sprint, I’m looking at foot strike. Landing heel first OR toe first in front of your center of mass creates a braking force — meaning instead of your momentum moving you forward, the force is being driven back up through the lower leg with every single stride.
That repeated impact on the anterior tib and surrounding tissues adds up fast. The more ground contacts and sprint volume without addressing this = more load accumulating in a place that wasn’t designed to absorb it that way.
Here’s what I look for in video review as well as some simple gym based exercises to keep the athlete healthy.
