Scientists have found evidence that cells carrying a mother's DNA can remain in her child's brain years after birth, offering a closer look at a little-known effect of pregnancy called microchimerism. The researchers examined brain tissue from 37 children who underwent surgery for severe epilepsy and detected maternal cells in 26 of them, with some appearing to have developed into different types of brain cells.
