In August 2010, thousands of drivers in China found themselves trapped in a massive traffic jam that stretched for nearly 60 miles and lasted for 12 days.
The gridlock was blamed on road construction and a huge number of coal trucks, with some drivers reportedly spending up to five days stuck on the road.
Some stranded motorists had to rely on nearby villagers for food and water as vehicles crawled along at a pace of less than a mile a day.
