Just because the face is wide open at address doesn’t mean the ball will go high. In fact quite the opposite here. Having face rotate close before impact to square creates more friction between ball and club face and therefore has more spin. 1. More weight on left foot 2. Sternum level/ moving towards target on way down. 3. More tilt than turn on the way back There are more factors to this but these are my other key elements.
