Switzerland has voted overwhelmingly to keep its neutrality flexible, rejecting a hard-right proposal to enshrine a stricter definition into the constitution by 70.1%.
Opponents called the initiative 'pro-Russian.' Supporters said it protected Swiss sovereignty. Voters sided firmly with the status quo.
'Switzerland was neutral yesterday, it will be neutral today and it will remain neutral,' said Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis.
The vote was triggered by concern over Bern backing EU sanctions on Russia.
