Israel’s ambassador to the US, Yechiel Leiter, said his son was the soldier seriously injured in a car-ramming attack in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday.
Israeli police said a Palestinian driver rammed a car at high speed toward a policewoman and a soldier conducting vehicle checks near the settlement of Beit Horon, west of Ramallah.
The attacker was killed by Israeli forces, police said. The soldier was seriously injured and taken to hospital.
Leiter said his son, Neria, underwent complex brain surgery and remained in critical condition. “Neria needs a miracle,” he said in a post on X.
Leiter also said Neria continued serving in the reserves after his older brother, Moshe Yedidya Leiter, was killed in action in Gaza in November 2023.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other politicians expressed support for the family.
