Hurricane Polo is expected to make landfall this morning in Baja California. The storm — which is now a Category 3 hurricane — exploded from a tropical depression into a Category 5 in just 42 hours, one of the most extreme examples of rapid intensification on record. Its intensity later shifted between four and five as it moved away from Mexico’s southwestern coast. Polo is bringing huge waves, intense rain and damage to businesses along the shore, like a small beachfront restaurant in Tecoman, Colima.
