A federal hearing is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. this afternoon over the Trump administration’s decision to bar three media organizations from the White House.
A judge is set to hear CNN, MS NOW and Politico’s First Amendment arguments seeking to restore their White House access.
President Trump banned the outlets, claiming their coverage has shown bias against his administration and that they do not have a right to be inside the building.
The outlets have sued the White House over the ban.
The Department of Justice is defending the ban, arguing the three media outlets jeopardize national security and spread falsehoods.
In a late court filing yesterday, the DOJ asked the court to deny the news outlets’ request to have their White House access restored.
The ban continues to draw backlash, with one Republican congressman saying the press plays an important role in holding government accountable.
