🛰️A new view of wildfire is coming into focus. CAL FIRE is reviewing early imagery from Earth Fire Alliance’s FireSat satellites as part of its Early Adopter program. Designed specifically for wildfire detection, FireSat uses multispectral infrared sensors to identify small, early-stage fires and capture detailed information about fire activity. CAL FIRE is working with Earth Fire Alliance to compare the satellite data with observations on the ground and evaluate how it can support wildfire detection and decision-making. The first operational FireSat data is expected to reach CAL FIRE before the end of the year, adding another potential source of information to support wildfire preparedness, mitigation and response.
