The Sáttítla Highlands National Monument in Northern California protects a vast natural aquifer and spring system of cold, clean water that feeds the Fall River and other iconic trout fisheries. It’s also the ancestral homeland of the Pit River Tribe, with extraordinary cultural and geologic significance.
Trout Unlimited was one of the lead voices that helped gain national monument status for this area. National monument designation for places like Sáttítla protects quality habitat for fish and wildlife and sporting opportunity.
We’re proud to have worked alongside the Pit River Tribe, Backcountry Hunters and Anglers, and other conservation partners to strengthen protections for this remarkable landscape and its extraordinary reserve of cold, clean water.
