I enjoyed celebrating the 3rd day of Sukkot by reading a wonderful picture book with these very sweet second graders! This year I’m truly grateful for the chance to teach young children about the Sukkot holiday by reading “The Very Best Sukkah: A Story from Uganda” by Shoshana Nambi and illustrated by Moran Yogev to elementary classrooms at my school and nearby elementary schools. The story takes place in the Abayudaya Jewish community in eastern Uganda and shares the meaningful message that community and kindness matter more than winning. 💚The Jewish holiday of Sukkot is deeply connected to nature and the environment, serving as Judaism’s primary harvest festival and an ancient reflection on ecological awareness.
