There are multiple garden or center courtyard style apartment complexes in the City of Kerman within our District. North Central Fire Engines currently utilize preconnected hose lines of 200 feet to locate, confine, and extinguish fire quickly. However, in garden style or center courtyard apartments the fire location can be further than pre-connected hose lines will reach or be hard to determine the length needed prior to hose deployment. Here pre-planning and training in your first in area is critical to fast and effective fire extinguishment. Yesterday, Engine 55 out of Kerman trained most of the day on these very same scenarios to ensure they are prepared at a moment’s notice. Here E55 is stretching 300 feet of 2 1/2-inch hose from the engine as a supply line into the center courtyard and hooking up to a smaller diameter attack line to stretch to the interior of the apartment.
