Who says a bear’s diet is all salmon?
Katmai’s brown bears absolutely demolish massive amounts of salmon during peak runs, but they also make time to chew their greens. Because even bears know you need a balanced diet. Something like that.
Along Katmai’s eastern coastline, bears graze on protein-rich marsh sedges to help replenish energy and build up those winter-ready muscles. They can spend hours chomping away, sitting, standing, or as a family at the all-you-can-eat salad bar. 🥗
