The name Bluetooth has nothing to do with wireless signals or the color blue. It was named after Harald Bluetooth, a 10th century Danish king associated with uniting Denmark and Norway. When engineers were developing the wireless standard in the 1990s, the name was originally intended as a temporary code name because the technology was meant to unite different devices. Even the famous logo has a historical connection, combining the Younger Futhark runes representing the letters H and B, Harald Bluetooth's initials.
