Avanti West Coast will officially be nationalised from 7 March 2027 🚆⁠ ⁠ The operator runs major services from London Euston to Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, North Wales and Glasgow, but has faced years of criticism over delays, cancellations and overcrowding.⁠ ⁠ Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander declared “enough is enough”, with the government claiming public ownership will help cut delays, improve infrastructure and deliver a better experience for passengers.⁠ ⁠ Avanti will transfer to the government-owned DfT Operator Limited, while existing tickets and bookings will remain valid during the changeover.⁠ ⁠ Hopefully this means fewer £100 tickets to spend two hours sitting on the floor beside the toilet 😭⁠ ⁠ Will nationalisation actually improve the service?⁠ ⁠ #train #travel #ladbible
