Racial slurs are extremely triggering because part of you believes they're true. Part of you has accepted the label someone has put on you, and you're not happy about it. That's why you get so fucking emotional and enraged. And if you act on those emotions, you're going to find yourself on the shit end of the law. Because here's the reality: getting mad because somebody said a word to you is not a reason for self-defense. If you hurt somebody because they called you a racial slur, you're the one who's going to be standing in front of a judge explaining why you couldn't control yourself. And that judge may send you off to a new plantation to do a lifetime of work for a new slave master. So ask yourself something: Why are you giving another person's words enough power to control your actions? If you know who you are, somebody else's opinion of you shouldn't have that kind of power.
