One thing we worked on today was 3-2-1 communication at the wall. When an outfielder is tracking a deep fly ball, the other outfielder becomes his eyes. Instead of just yelling “wall,” you give him a countdown based on how many steps he has left: 3 — about three steps from the wall 2 — two steps 1 — one step That lets the player tracking the ball stay locked on it without having to turn around and find the fence. Versions of this system are used at higher levels because the goal is to give the fielder more specific information than just “you’re getting close.” It seems simple, but little communication details like this are a big part of what I’m learning playing outfield more seriously. Another good day of work. One day closer. Follow to see the journey. #ChasingProBall #D1Baseball #CollegeBaseball #Outfield #Baseball
