One thing I’m learning chasing pro ball: raw bat speed by itself isn’t the goal. MLB Statcast tracks “Blasts,” which combine bat speed with how efficiently the ball is squared up. In MLB’s 2024 data, Blast batted balls produced a .563 batting average and 1.182 slugging percentage, compared with .231 and .295 on non-Blasts. That changes how I’m thinking about hitting. I still want to swing fast, but the goal is to create speed that actually turns into quality contact. Still learning what matters most as I chase pro ball. Follow to see what it takes to become a pro. If you’re a player, my training resources are linked in my bio. #ChasingProBall #MLBDraft #CollegeBaseball #Hitting #Baseball
