Eight years ago, a little girl from Columbia’s final wish was to have her cancerous tumors donated to research. Today, they are being used across the globe in hopes of saving children from the brutal disease she undertook at only 9 years old. After she passed, her family began the Lizzy’s Walk of Faith Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in Columbia. Today, they have donated over one million dollars to children's hospitals, research, spreading awareness and to families grappling with the realities of pediatric cancer. Around 2,000 people gathered to run their annual 5K on Saturday, Sept. 26. “Your purpose is never about you, but it’s about serving others,” Lizzy’s father John Wampler said. “Look what she did. Her last wish, it was about serving others.” Read more about the story behind the race at the link in our bio.
