A Huntington High School graduate, his wife, her brother, and their sister-in-law were among six people killed in an apparent gas explosion and building collapse Friday in Athens, Greece. Official sources identified the U.S. victims as Huntington-raised Ian Alexander Kirkpatrick, his wife Florida Hoxha, her brother Florin Hoxha, and his wife Eris Cani, an assistant pharmacy professor at Touro College in Manhattan. Greek authorities said the two American couples were staying at an Airbnb rental in the building, on Lysikratous Street in the historic Plaka District in the shadow of the Acropolis, at the time of the explosion. Greek Fire Service investigators said they believe the second-floor explosion, which caused the building to collapse, was caused by a gas leak. Get the latest at the link in bio.
