Texas picked up its first SEC win under head coach Margueritte Bates, blanking Ole Miss 2-0 on the road at Ole Miss Soccer Stadium behind goals from Ashlyn Anderson and Ava McDonald.
Texas wasted no time, striking just 70 seconds into the match when Anderson slipped a goal past the Ole Miss defense off a feed from Alicia Riggins, her third goal in as many matches and the Longhorns' quickest tally to start a contest since August. The early punch forced Ole Miss to settle in fast, and the Rebels responded well, putting together a five-minute stretch in which Teaghan Irvin, Sarah Granno and Maizy Kluksdal all tested Texas goalkeeper Bayliss Flynn. Ole Miss kept pushing the rest of the half, out-shooting Texas 9-6, but couldn't find an equalizer and went into the break trailing 1-0.
