A robotic tongue created by Japanese researchers back in 2019 is suddenly going viral again, and its name is genuinely “Licker.” 😭👅 Researchers from the University of Electro-Communications studied the way human tongues move and identified four fundamental movements before developing a flexible robot capable of reproducing them. They also focused on how it feels, including the tongue’s softness and a slippery sensation designed to resemble saliva. The project was showcased at SIGGRAPH Asia 2019, with the team explaining that they wanted to explore social bonding “regardless of species by licking.” The demo also earned an honorable mention in the attendee-voted awards. Now, seven years later, the footage has somehow found an entirely new audience. 💀 Would you actually let this thing lick you? 😭 👉👉Follow aiupdates.hub for daily insights that keep you ahead in AI, Tech and Robotics #robotics #technology #softrobotics #engineering #tech
