Halloween season officially starts in Salem tomorrow.
The 29th annual Haunted Happenings Grand Parade takes over downtown Salem on Thursday, October 1, kicking off a full month of Halloween celebrations in the city.
The free, all-ages parade starts at 6:30 PM at Shetland Park and winds through downtown before finishing at Salem Common, with local students, businesses, music and plenty of Halloween festivities along the way.
This year’s theme is “Old-School Halloween,” celebrating the evolution of the holiday as Salem marks its 400th anniversary.
If you’re heading up from Boston, public transit is strongly recommended. Road closures begin around 4 PM and parking will be heavily impacted.
By the way, we have a weekly newsletter rounding up what’s worth doing and knowing about in Boston. One newsletter. Once a week. Link in bio.
